Philip Morris International launches ‘Invested in America’ campaign highlighting U.S. expansion and local impact

Philip Morris International’s U.S. businesses have launched a new national advertising campaign aimed at highlighting the company’s economic footprint, manufacturing expansion, and community engagement across the United States.

The campaign, Invested in America, debuted in early July with full-page ads in national newspapers, followed by a digital rollout targeting business leaders, policymakers, and general audiences. The initiative centers on PMI U.S.’s recent and ongoing investments in advanced manufacturing, its transition to smoke-free products, and contributions to nonprofit and local organizations across the country.

According to the company, PMI U.S. has committed more than $800 million to new facilities and expansion projects nationwide. That includes a $600 million manufacturing site under development in Aurora, Colorado, and a $232 million expansion in Owensboro, Kentucky—both expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs. Additional operations are located in North Carolina, Virginia, and at the company’s global headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.

“These investments reflect our commitment to meaningful progress and innovation in the U.S.,” said Stacey Kennedy, CEO of PMI U.S. “In every state where we operate, we’re not just doing business—we’re creating opportunities that will define the America of tomorrow.”

Kennedy added that the campaign is intended to spotlight the role of PMI U.S. employees in “helping to write America’s next chapter,” as the company works to expand its footprint in emerging technology and noncombustible nicotine products for adults aged 21 and older. PMI U.S. does not sell traditional cigarettes in the United States.

In addition to its economic impact, the campaign also highlights PMI’s charitable giving. Since 2022, the company has contributed approximately $25 million to nonprofit causes, including more than $10 million in 2024 alone to over 300 organizations in 35 states. Funding areas include veteran support, economic empowerment, and disaster response.

Among its philanthropic efforts, PMI U.S. has provided support for the Veterans’ Advocacy Law Clinic at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law, which offers legal assistance to veterans and military families throughout the state.

The Invested in America campaign is expected to run across print, digital, and social media platforms throughout the summer. It includes a localized emphasis in areas where the company has active operations, with messaging tailored to local stakeholders.
