Travelers going from Phoenix to London will have more flight options at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the airport recently announced.
American Airlines will offer a nonstop flight to London Heathrow Airport from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (Sky Harbor) year-round. Before, the airline offered the nonstop flight to London only between March 31 and October 26.
“American [Airlines] is the only domestic carrier to offer nonstop service to Europe from Phoenix,” Heather Lissner, Sky Harbor public information manager, said.
Not only will the flight ease the travel process, but it will also benefit the state’s economy and encourage people to visit Phoenix.
“International flights to and from Phoenix bring in approximately $3 billion each year. This flight will provide a boost by bringing in additional tourists to the Phoenix area,” Lissner said.
When tourists come to Arizona, they spend money on lodging, food, activities and more.
According to the Arizona Office of Tourism Monthly Gross Sales & Tourism Taxes Report, the estimated state tourism taxes in November 2018 totaled $69,120,468.
The report indicates that visitors spent the most on retail, restaurants and bars, and lodging.
“This flight gives travelers another option when they look to come to Arizona. The flight offers convenient times that allow both business and leisure travelers to easily access Phoenix as well as make connections elsewhere,” Lissner explained.
