Valleywise Health Medical Center has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, highlighting its commitment to providing high-quality, safe patient care.
“This is the first time Valleywise Health has received an ‘A’ grade in the Leapfrog rankings, and I am extremely proud of every member of our care team for this achievement,” Valleywise President and CEO Steve Purves said. “It’s extremely gratifying to see their hard work and laser focus on quality and safety recognized with an ‘A’ rating by Leapfrog.”
Leapfrog, an independent national nonprofit watchdog organization, evaluates general hospitals nationwide and assigns grades ranging from A through F based on more than 30 performance measures, including errors, accidents, injuries, infections, and the systems hospitals implement to prevent them.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital rating system dedicated exclusively to preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries, which claim the lives of more than 500 patients daily in the United States. This peer-reviewed program is fully transparent, free to the public, and updated biannually in the fall and spring.
“Achieving this top recognition of high-quality, safe patient care is a true testament to the skill, dedication and commitment of our healthcare professionals,” said Dr. Michael White, chief clinical officer for Valleywise. “Our teams are working tirelessly to care for a high burden of patient needs and we are so proud and appreciative of their efforts.”
