Governor Ducey announces engineering firm AXISCADES’s new Tucson location

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced on Friday that India-based engineering firm AXISCADES will open a new facility in Tucson, Arizona.

AXISCADES specializes in engineering solutions for various fields, including mining, defense, energy, and aerospace among others. Governor Ducey describes the company as one that provides “solutions and services to the movers and shakers in the mining industry.

The company’s newest location in Southern Arizona will create roughly 300 jobs over the next five years. Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild explains that this is an exceptional opportunity for students and recent graduates. He said, “They’re going to look for employees from the state universities, which is great news for engineering students.”

In fact, AXISCADES Global CEO Mritunjay Singh announced that one of the main reasons the company chose Tucson was the labor force. “There is tremendous potential in terms of defense and workforce,” Singh noted. “Tucson is definitely a great place to be in terms of talent and the customer base that is here.”

Rothschild expressed his excitement for the opportunities this will bring to the Tucson economy. He added, “Both Caterpillar and AXISCADES add depth and breadth–and well-paying jobs–to Tucson’s mining technology industry sector. We look forward to making the folks at AXISCADES welcome in Tucson.”

Pima County Supervisor Sharon Bronson highlights the importance of AXISCADES within the Southern Arizona economy. “Mining is Arizona’s past, its present, and it will remain part of its future,” she stated. “This economy is strongly tied to mining. Mining and mining tech innovation are major parts of Pima county’s economic development plan.”

According to Governor Ducey, AXISCADES’s selection of Tucson exemplifies the rapid growth of the city as a business hub. With this new facility, as well as openings from Amazon, Ernst & Young, Raytheon, and Caterpillar, he announced, “We’re sending a message to innovators across the country and around the world that southern Arizona is open for business.

AXISCADES will contribute to both the southern Arizona economy and community. The firm will create new opportunities for job hunters, engineering businesses, and students alike.
